About the event

Cesar Chavez Day is a U.S. federal commemorative holiday celebrated on March 31st each year to honor the birth and legacy of Cesar Chavez, a civil rights and labor movement activist. The holiday was proclaimed by President Barack Obama in 2014. It is observed in various states, including California, Arizona, Colorado, and Texas, with different levels of recognition.


In San Francisco, the celebration includes events such as the Cesar E. Chavez Holiday Breakfast Monday, March 31st and the Cesar Chavez Dolores Huerta Day Parade & Festival. The parade and festival are scheduled for April 12th, 2025, 11pm-6pm, in Calle 24 The Latino Cultural District, and will feature various vendors, music and entertainment. It is a free family event.
