About the event
San Francisco International Arts Festival invites Bay Area performing artists and arts organizations to join us for a community zoom meeting on Wednesday November 29 at Noon.
At this meeting, we will share our plans to consolidate the Festival program in the Mission district in May 2025 (and beyond) during the first two weeks of May. Our dates in 2025 will be May 1 – 11.
SFIAF has applied to the San Francisco Arts Commission’s Arts Impact Endowment to secure money to help underwrite local artists’ participation in the 2025 Festival. We are also looking to other funding sources to provide financial support for this purpose.
Securing these funds will give artists wishing to present their work as part of the Festival a choice between utilizing SFIAF managed venues, presenting outdoor or site-specific work, or presenting their work in other theatres and studios (both commercial and non-profit). It will also allow for other Mission based venues to present their own concerts and performances as part of the Festival.
The goal is to offer a coordinated and condensed Festival program that will highlight the outstanding professional quality and diversity of the Bay Area’s performing arts community, and simultaneously celebrate racial and cultural equity in one of the city’s most creatively vibrant and dynamic neighborhoods.
Our ongoing theme, IN DIASPORA: I.D. for the New Majority speaks to the demographic shift in the United States to being a majority people of color. We believe that this shift has the potential to be both pivotal and transcendent. The Festival will address this concept in many diverse forms.
